Jim took the stage in a storm of feedback and amazing guitar solos, leading to his classic finale that changed the staging of rock music forever. Jimi Hendrix lit his guitar on fire and left it burning on the stage. Stanley Mouse, a witness to this event, painted the ''Flaming Guitar'' to forever memorialize this incredible moment in rock and roll history. Guitar Mania, a public art project in Cleveland, featured 10 foot high decorated fiberglass replicas of Fender Stratocaster guitars, designed and painted by celebrities and artists. The project was a collaboration between the United Way and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After the exhibition, the guitars were auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting these charities.
